Hipster Doofus

I just got my new Hipster Doofus glasses.

I am now officially way more hip, doofy, and able to see. Who knew that your vision changes over time :P

Assistance Buying a New Motorcycle

The Intro:
so here is the skinny - I have enough dollars and, apparently, not enough sense to buy myself a "new to me" two wheeled DEATH MACHINE (oops, channeling Rachel and my Mum there). Sure, my riding season in the Yukon is roughly 2 and a half hours long and there are only 2 roads (north or south) and there is more debris and wildlife to crash into than on any typical ride in Downtown Construction-ville Vancouver.

But, I must have a bike again.

The Challenge:

sick at home so time for a catchup

It's been overly long since my last post so a catchup is in order.

A while back we celebrated Gung Haggis Fat Choy - Dustin did a great write up of it.

upgrades upgrades upgrades

Today I am struck with an intense need to patch, update and upgrade.

Drupal has been updated on home and www.

Apps on the iMac are being updated.

OS X 10.5 is nearly arrived to the inbox at work and I will be moving to Leopard shortly after it arrives. The only concern I have on that front is that I am using ACL's to allow Rach and I to share the same music collection - I hope that doesn't break.
You would think that most families would want a way to have a nice and clean consolidated music collection... I am thinking of the idea that the meta data of "you added new music" to be propagated to everyone and then have a separate database for all the personalizable stuff like ratings, last listened to, etc.

It is just plain common sense that I will be doing a nice big fresh backup of all our data before I even think about starting this :)

The light is returning

So much to talk about from recent events.

We survived the minus 40. For two weeks. I don't want to think about the oil bill that is going to result in. It was super fun to be in -40 but at the same time I will gladly take the plus 3 that was calling itself home last week. We are back to "normal" temperatures now (lows of -20 and highs of -7 or so)

Friend, Where you from?

Cuba.

It's an amazing contradiction. It's got friendly people, great booze, fantastic beaches, and good - if somewhat repetitive - food.

The stories and pictures will be rolling in over the next while. There are a lot of both.

Some require face to face telling over drinks.

It helps the delivery :)

Happy 2008. It's rolling along most excellently for us.
