In Large, Friendly Letters
The Hitchiker Adventure Game by Douglas Adams is the first video game I remember playing.
Ah, the gown, the buffered analgesic and the bulldozer.
It’s had a revamp for the 21st Century with a new interface, graphics (I still have a soft spot for green text on black) and quick grab tools. I love the improvements.
Yet, it’s [...]

Stranded, The Film
The Wellington Film fest is on and I think I’ve seen the Best in Show.
You’ve probably seen the film “Alive” starring Ethan Hawke. The extraordinary story of a Uruguayan rugby team whose plane crashes in the Andes. The young men resort to canabolism to survive.
Stranded: I’ve come from a plan that’s crashed on a mountain [...]

Check out this wonderful storybook about George who’s Internet life changed drastically, one Christmas…

Heard of permission marketing Vodafone NZ?
Last week I got this text message from Vodafone NZ:
As a valued customer we like 2 ensure u hear about special offers & new products&services first. To stop receiving these communications TXT STOP to 772 by 4Jul08.
I read:
Because we don’t give a crap about you, we’re going to send crap to your phone. That’s right, [...]

Come and be my friend on voeveo
I work at voeveo and I love it!
If you join up you can get great stuff like this for your mobile:
Gene Hunt by Funkyfresh profiles. Gene Genie is our favourite overweight, over-the-hill, nicotine-stained, borderline-alcoholic homophobe with a superiority complex and an unhealthy obsession with male bonding.
Cool Goth wallpapers from Rosie Jonsie
Cute animations from Chocolate Log [...]

Genuine Connections
At my company, voeveo, we make a real effort to connect with our members. And I have my first web employers to thank for that.
When I worked at abebooks.com, in the late 90s, I saw their bookseller and book buyer community grow from 100s to 1000s, then 10s of 1000s. At a time when numerous [...]

A Whole World of Sweet
Yeah! Issue #2 of World Sweet World is out!
It is a real thrill to see how Hannah massages my text into art. (She’s such a whiz.) And Thomas is a masterful proof reader. (aka. Comma Police) Thanks to you both for such a lovely job!
Here’s a couple shots of my article, “Buck the trend”.
Get your [...]

I pay for convenience
Working at a website where people pay for awesome mobile content I hear the myth, “People won’t pay for mobile content,” all the time - I mean all the time. In fact I heard it last night.
Jeff and I always point to the music industry. It’s not dead because of Napster or Bit Torrent. In [...]

Paul Mitchell - Cruelty Free Since 1989
Now that I’m boycotting Kerastase I went on a hunt…
At my local “Shampoo and Things” I asked the assistant for a shampoo that wasn’t tested on animals. Right away she pointed me to Paul Mitchell’s line.
So I checked the label on Awapuhi shampoo and there it was, literally in black and white: Paul Mitchell [...]

Audrey Needs More Wooden Spoons
My old roomate, Melody, has an excellent blog full of yummy and practical recipes.
I can’t say I remember that much cooking at our Cook Street apartment. More like: Melody playing guitar in her bedroom and recording on the 8 track; sitting on our wee balcony with a cold beer in the sunshine; coffee - lots [...]

The Source at the LSE
The Source is a dynamic sculpture in the lobby of the London Stock Exchange. 729 balls are suspended on 32m cables and controlled by a Phython script that monitors the performance of the LES. These balls move up and down the cables to reflect the nature of the stock market.
It was quite enchanting watching balls [...]

London Adventure
I’ve just arrived home (ahh!) after two weeks of business for voeveo.
The weather was very hot when we arrived, so Jeff and I took advantage of it and hopped on the “Original London Sightseeing Tour“. We spent the day seeing the historic city: big ben, tower bridge, sweeney todd’s hood (old buildings for Africa) and [...]

GTA 4 Connecting The Xbox Live Community
GTA 4 looks amazing, it’s fun to drive fast and has one sweet mobile phone.
Once you’ve got “friends” on the Xbox Live Community they can actually text you inside GTA 4 to your character’s mobile phone - yeah, that’s pretty cool.
Rockstar games proves they know how to improve game interactions in simple, easy ways that [...]

Lovely Light
I had the pleasure of meeting Kate yesterday to take my new “headshot” for our business plan.
I am not at all corporate - pant suits freak me out - so it was important to find a photographer who could capture my personality.
Enter lovely Kate of Kate MacPherson photography. Incredibly professional, relaxed and warm Kate was [...]

Boycotting Kerastase
I’ve just found out that my shampoo and conditioner have been tested on animals. So I’m boycoutting Kerastase products.
This should be an interesting conversation, next week, when I tell my hairdresser she can’t touch me with Kerastase. (I think her salon is sponsored by this L’oreal company.)
Find out if you’re buying from companies who test [...]

The Sweet World of Recyling
A far overdue post about my new favourite Wellington magazine that is making lots of friends!
Fantastic Thomas and Talented Hannah launched their first issue of World Sweet World last month at Craft 2.0. And I had the pleasure of writing “The Dirt on Recycling”.
It’s a great first issue and today I’m diving into my article [...]
