The light is returning
So much to talk about from recent events.
We survived the minus 40. For two weeks. I don't want to think about the oil bill that is going to result in. It was super fun to be in -40 but at the same time I will gladly take the plus 3 that was calling itself home last week. We are back to "normal" temperatures now (lows of -20 and highs of -7 or so)
I have been skiing, not as much as previous years, the -40 deters one from skiing. I will not be participating in any loppett (cross country ski races) this year because of this. Mostly, I think I am getting a bit more sane in my stupid weekend warrior hard core tendencies.
Rach and I went ice climbing on the local ice towers Valentines weekend (it was a gift from each of us to the other). Pictures are going up in the 2008 gallery shortly. Some fun cliff hanging shots there. I highly recommend ice climbing if you are a climber, the sheer vertical wall of ice will make you mind and your muscles work at unheard of levels. The fact that I haven't done any climbing since last Fall didn't help me show any technique or confidence :)
I will be doing a short trip to Pittsburgh first week of March. CMMI courses at CMU/SEI. All about how to create better development processes. I am looking forward to it.
We still have Sunday morning indoor ultimate going and our reliable crew of 10 people are showing up, fashionably, on time for our usually quick paced games - with no wind or rain or cold or ... environmental influences :P
Rendezvous (a February festival here in Whitehorse) just ended and I took part in the Hockey Tournament. We got ours butts kicked but had a great time overall. The down side is I am very tired and sore now - I probably should take a bath and an Advil.
And now you are back up to date on where life is up here in the North!
